We meet Celine and Jesse nine years after their last rendezvous. Almost two decades have passed since their first encounter on a train bound for Vienna, and we now find them in their early forties in Greece. Before the clock strikes midnight, we will again become part of their story.
Nine years after Before Sunset, their exceedingly respected spin-off of Before Sunrise, executive Richard Linklater reteams with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy for Before Midnight, which uncovers their characters together raising twin little girls. Jesse (Hawke) endeavors to keep up an association with Hank, his young child from his first marriage, however their bond is strained in spite of the fact that Hank has barely gone through the Spring with his father and step-crew. In the interim, Celine (Delpy) must make a challenging choice about her profession. Likewise with Before Sunset, Linklater, Hawke, and Delpy impart credit for the screenplay.
