Movie Info

Mark Wahlberg stars in Paramount Pictures' helpful docudrama investigating the surprising ascent of Massachusetts-conceived, lesser welterweight title champ "Irish" Micky Ward. A dead set pugilist whose vocation in the ring was shepherded by his faithful stepbrother, Dicky (Christian Bale) --a hard-living boxer-turned mentor whose own lifework in the ring was practically sent out like a blown lightbulb because of medications and wrongdoing --enduring underdog Irish Micky bounced back from a crippling succession of annihilations to score both the WBU Intercontinental Lightweight title and the WBU Light Welterweight title on account of a furious fusion of determination and hard work. David O. Russell coordinates from a script by 8 Mile's Scott Silver and Paul Attanasio (The Bourne Ultimatum)
