Pity the sportsperson past his prime. Then again anyhow pity George Dryer —he absolutely does —who was at one time a relentless soccer champion, scoring objectives for club and nation crosswise over Europe, before he ran ashore in the Virginia suburbs. Compelled into retirement after a harm, George (Gerard Butler) exists in a leased guesthouse in the middle of the trappings of his previous radiance: an old Alfa Romeo convertible; boxes of shirts, trophies and spikes; and a demeaner of player fearlessness and sexual qualification. That final part may be a matter of throwing in "Playing for Keeps." Mr. Head servant is clearly —or at any rate contractually —overwhelming to ladies, and George, even in semi-overshadow, draws in them like moths to a masculine blaze. Particularly once he begins instructing the young soccer crew on which his young offspring, Lewis (Noah Lomax), plays. George scores over the youngsters initially, with his obliging alpha shtick, and the mothers rapidly take after.
