Propelled by "The Canterbury Tales," and additionally the story of Ulrich von Lichtenstein, this is the story of William, an adolescent squire with a blessing for jousting. After his expert burns out abruptly, the squire hits the way with his companions Roland and Wat. On the adventure, they unearth an obscure scholar, Chaucer. William, failing to offer a legitimate family, persuades Chaucer to manufacture family history records that will pass him off as a knight. With his recently stamped history under control, the adolescent man embarks to substantiate himself a commendable knight at the nation's jousting rivalry, and finds sentiment along the way.
